This is absolutely false, they bottle every year of Zwanze. They almost always have bottles of the last few years of Zwanze available for on site consumption at the brewery.

I had the 2014 Zwanze(Cuvee Florian), among others the last two years at the brewery.

There are some zwanze bottles out there, but they are very rarely traded. Most anyone who talks JVR into getting a zwanze bottle out of the brewery is a good enough guy to consume it instead of ransom it.

Just to clarify my point: bottles aren't brought to the states, and aren't meant for off site consumption. I was also there at the brewery drinking bottles of many different vintages, but like you said: brewery only, and only on site consumption. They open it for you and hand you the bottle. Any one with a bottle has friends in very high places.
