Just an FYI, the JK O&P was never released to-go, only for on-site premises. I believe about 3 or 4 volunteers got a bottle and 1 went up for trade, but this was not a beer you could ever buy a bottle of. I sure hope they do release it again though as it was delicious.

I wisely had FedEx divert Canti's package to the local store. They can deal with the damage instead of me! :mug:

Thanks so much Kevin! I think I'm more excited about the Russ vs. Cantillion, but they are all awesome! :rockin:

Did you wax that DR13 yourself, Canti?

I did. I was waxing some homebrew and when I was done with those and still had some wax left I grabbed a few bottles from the closet I thought I would be holding onto for a while. I know some people say waxing doesn't help but I can't see how it could hurt either.

Unless you're Prairie apparently...

The rust is on the outside of the prairie though. It's not affecting the beer.

I don't know why they keep having such issues with it. I've talked to chase about it and he said they're trying to fix it. I almost bought some of their whiskey and wine barrels yesterday. 25 for whiskey 40 for wine

The only thing I can think of is that they are doing the waxing when the bottles are still soaking wet. Do it when they are dry and there shouldn't be the oxidation. That's not bad. Revolution sells their used whiskey barrels for $25 too, but I've wanted a wine barrel and they don't have those(for now at least)

All that aside, people freaked out more because the Vanilla Noir was infected with Brett, and Chase has said the same. It isn't close to 100% of the batches, but some of the vanilla beans did transfer Brett to the beer and some bottles are gushers and infected. The rust absolutely had nothing to do with it though.

I did however have a bottle that the beer was leaking out and bubbling through the wax, I watched it bubble out for 5 straight minutes, definitely a leak.

I just dont get how it could rust even if it was wet when they waxed it. Rust needs water and oxygen and wax would eliminate the oxygen part of that in theory. Hmmm, science! And damn that is cheap for barrels! I assume they are 55 gallon?

Brett, that explains it. I couldn't put my finger on it, I've had two bottles that just tasted off and one that was really, really good. Had I sat on them longer I'm sure it would of been more pronounced. No gushers, though
