I'll do this one, I'll have to go buy a few extras but I've got the list already sitting here

edit:
this edit deserves to be at the top. The 100 post rule is in the f'in title. I am a complete *******. I blame alcohol, the source of and solution to most of life's problems....

I read the original post (and many others) and didn’t see the 100 post requirement. It is probably in a later post, I've just been lurking so long I must have forgot about that requirement, as did my buddy N8 who is filling the wish instead. And now looking back I see thatjonguy commented “Need more posts”. I just wish he had been more specific and said “fijigus, you can’t grant, you need 100 posts”. I was so excited about leaving for Bend I didn’t put 2 and 2 together. And didn’t see 3 more people comment after my post the next morning as I turned off the computer and hopped in the car on the way to SMaSH fest at Mcmenamins.

But maybe consider widening the requirements? I have been lurking here for over 2 years, was a premium member for a year, and have read hundreds of posts; I just don’t post for the sake of posting. I didn’t even realize I had only 20+ posts and could have hit 100 before I granted in about 10 minutes if I tried. TobyG has been here 4 years and is a lifetime supporter, but only has 219 posts; while another guy just signed up in January and already has 111 posts. It’s all relative. Considering I have trying every beer I can get my hands on for 7 years or more, am just about to hit 2000 unique beers on untapped, have been homebrewing for over 2 years now and I am smack dab in between Portland and Seattle with thousands of easy and hard to find beers, I think I more than qualify.

Also, I don’t know of a magic list that states which beers are whales. I merely listed the founder’s beers I haven’t had yet and was guilty of going a little too fast as I was on my way out of town and thought I needed to post a list before I left since I thought no one had responded yet telling me not to. The two beers 3 or 4 people have pointed out are on a list that basically says “anything I haven’t tried yet” so I don’t think I need 4 managers telling me I didn’t fill out my TPS report correctly. Mmmm kaaay. :)

Okay, now that my rant is over, please know there are no hard feelings and I am looking forward to trying some more beers from N8s first couple trades as well as this newest one, and hope Nickfern likes the beers we got him. He's gonna be rolling in IIPAs for days. And I'll get to 100 this month.

Would really like some Westbrook goze or jester king

Other than that stouts or dipa are great, not looking for big names so much as beers that there's no way I've seen in Washington

*edit* top two are not required

Its hard to create the minimum requirements and remain completely fair. But one set of rules needs be created and set for all. Otherwise its a slippery slope.

The 100 post and 90 day requirement is simply there to encourage activity. I agree you sound perfectly qualified to join. But we must provide what minimal protection we can for the honest members on here. Otherwise we would have people join and post 100 in an hour, then grant and post a list. And never show here again. We create minimal rules to sort put the riff raff, which unfortunately keeps some honest members out for a short while as well.

I remember my 100th post...it was for the Swap O Rama V.3.0 I think. Memories

Didnt I break my own rules and make an exception to bring you on since we were already full? Haha...that's what happens when I get a bit buzzed and cruise the forums...

Wow, guess I'm the guy with 111 posts. LMAO! In my defense, I did see the 100 post minimum, and wanted to participate when I could...

The point of 100 posts and 90 days is not to ensure folks who join know a lot about beer or somehow qualify themselves as very knowledgable about beer. The point, as indicated above, is just to try and keep the "riff raff" out and in the process some of the long-term members who do not post frequently are excluded. That exclusion though can be easily remedied. The way to do that is to post more but piling up the posts in an hour (as you indicated) isn't the way to do it. I'm okay getting a box of beers from someone who doesn't even use untappd or hasn't had a bunch of beers outside their distro as well.

In terms of KBS. The spirit of the thread is actually stated in the OP under #10. As someone with over 2000 unique beers on untappd, you should know very well that CBS and KBS do not fall in the category
REGULAR PRODUCTION AND SEASONAL RELEASES ONLY!!!!!
. guideline #1
A member will make a wish for several beers they would like to have.
does not trump guideline #10.

If you read the posts or at least the time stamp, you will find that 3 people posted at 12:46 and 12:47 respectively. That indicates three people had the same thought all in the same moment. The fourth, which was me, did not touch on your post count, it touched on the request for "whales" or better yet, seasonal beers that someone with 2000 unique beers on untappd probably knows aren't widely available all year long or even during the "season". So my point, which was made much after the three prior, was just about that. I figured the point about post count was made in the original post and then those three. Mmmmm kay? ;)

Also, the person who granted NickFern's list has over 100 posts. His name is Nate but I am not sure if that is the "N8" that you refer to.

You'll have 100 posts in no time at all. It sounds like you have access to some amazing beers with your untappd history and your qualifications you listed above. You'll make a wonderful addition to this thread and having more people participate is a really great thing. Mmmm kay? :)

Yes I agree for CBS but KBS I say its a seasonal. A hard to get one, yes, but it is produced yearly and there is a fair amount of it (seem pictures of people buying cases of it). Its unlikely someone will send a KBS but it is a seasonal not a one time only type of deal though it does not sit on the shelves.

People got cases of DB Huna this year too ;)

I've never seen anyone buy a case of it. Here it is 1-4 bottle allotment and it sells out in under 2 hours. This isn't the straight up breakfast stout, it's KBS. It never sits on shelves, ever. I feel pretty confident with that theory. But it is seasonal but I also don't think it is produced more than one time so whatever they distribute they distribute. Or so I thought.

I think the catch with KBS is that there are relatively few locales where it's a true shelf beer. Nearly everywhere that managed to get some here (we just got Founders) sold out before it even made it to the shelf and were limiting it to a 4 pack (if they didn't limit it to 1 or 2 bottles).

It's not really about knowledge or skill I don't think. It's more about participation in the HBT community.
Also, I don’t know of a magic list that states which beers are whales.
That's also in the first post. The spirit is basically year round and seasonal beers that you can walk into your local beer store/section and pick up off the shelf. If it's something you have to reserve or wait in line for, it's probably belonging more in the MAW thread.
I merely listed the founder’s beers I haven’t had yet and was guilty of going a little too fast as I was on my way out of town and thought I needed to post a list before I left since I thought no one had responded yet telling me not to. We're going to need you to come in Saturday. And Sunday too. That'd be great.

And in case you missed it, see my previous reply regarding your Louisiana beers request.

I'm heading out to drop a package for DrPhunk. I filled his wish list with shelf beer and then I went shopping for some good stuff. Shopping for others is so much fun.
