g-love sent me a 64 oz growler from PA. He centered it in the box, added peanuts up the ass, wrapped it in probably an entire roll of the big sized bubble wrap (okay not that much), wrapped packing tape around the top which already had plastic around it. Then every other bottle was pretty much wrapped with the same care. It was an epic packing job that literally took me about 20 minutes to get through. The biggest thing was padding and putting it upright. I do not think he wrapped it in a trash bag. My memory fails me but I would do that. It's a lot of liquid to leak should something happen. I also recall the growler having the same space on the bottom, sides, and top with lots of padding.

As for keeping cold, I would just hope there was headspace in the growler.

Awesome, thanks. I don't need to worry about keeping it cold or anything? I'm concerned about the expansion of CO2 as it warms causing breakage.

I have shipped and received many growlers, and I was worried about the same thing too but have never had any issues at all. The worst thing thats happened of all the growlers IVe gotten was an ounce or two of leakage. Just make sure to stand it up straight and bag/wrap the schit out of it.

Yeah, just wrap it with the same care you would a bottle. And id keep it upright. Although, ive had people ship them to me on their side with no trouble.

Side grant from Erik and Nate out west. Need a new porch after this bomb of bombers! So pumped that I have a bottle of Lulu to enjoy this weekend. Perfect timing for Father's Day. Thanks a lot fellas! [RANT] Speaking of peanuts, I wish people would stop using them. They are such a hassle to deal with. Not to mention they allow thing to shift, increasing the likelihood of breakage. [/RANT]

Package should be there tomorrow. Didn't know two people were sharing it. I would have thrown some more stuff in.

You can always send more. ;) No, its cool, he has sent a few emaws/trades that I have chipped in on, I have gotten a few trades I share with him (like a giant Heady shipment this spring...), or I buy the beer and he ships it, or we split both, just depends. I had twins in January so he is practically brewing all our homebrews by himself with me and a few other buddies helping when we can, so I owe him. And we drink as much as we can of it together so it all works out.

Going to pick up some boxes from his work now while he is out of town for a couple days, so I get to bust into them and send him pictures to make him jealous. Of course he is at the tap house or some other place with 100+ taps right now having lunch, so he will be okay I think.

Long overdue post confirming the box of hops I received from N8 & G!

Thanks again guys! Hope you enjoy the box my brother sent west!

HOORAY BEER!. IPAs for days. Thanks Nick.

I've taken to stuffing peanuts in gallon zip lock bags to get the extra padding from the peanuts without the mess or shifting.

I only use packing peanuts to take up dead space. I hate them. I try to recycle all packing materials, so if i get.them, i use them.

That's actually a really good idea. Funny this is I just sent someone a box with packing peanuts but only because I received that box from someone else and reused it.

Ditto. I reuse the boxes that I received. I tried using regular peanuts though and someone died from the allergy. Joke by the way.

I dont have a problem if someone wants to use peanuts. I dont think they work well, but they dont irritate me.

Peanuts actually work really well as packing between boxes if you double box.

Peanuts that leak from boxes make sure package get extra "attention". Pain in the ass. Also very slippery when wet on a metal floor.
