I have a cracked bottling wand and an iipa that has been dry hopped for 12 days. There is no way I can get another one any time soon. Just wanted to bitch. It has been a long day this was just another slap in the face.
Although it is not as elegant or easy, you can still bottle using the hose (with or without the usable portion of the wand) and the spigot on your bottling bucket to control flow. 12 days is a long dry hop, so I wouldn't wait too much longer.
Glad I found the spring of my bottling wand on the bottom of my Starsan bucket...I usually don't drop small parts in there, but using a smaller, quart container for such. How did it get there?
Are you using a bucket with a spigot? You can probably get away with using some tubing connected to the spigot. You'll just have to turn the spigot on and off for each bottle.
I'm with ya. Bottled yesterday and it turned into a very frustrating affair. Had to replace tubing....auto-siphon got clogged from the dry hops....then bottling wand broke during the first bottle (had to regulate with the handle on the tap)...because of that the little "air" hole in front of the spigot started spraying out a stream of beer. Then two bottles cracked while capping. Never had any of those things happen before...when it rains it pours. Maybe it's time to start kegging haha.
