I said that I absolutely love the product except for the fact that I'm taking my life in my hands every time I lift it. I sent them a link to the BMB horror thread here (to the picture above, actually), and said I want to support a NB product that I do think is innovative and solves a lot of brewing issues, but I don't want to die. I also said that I consider it defective and in need of a replacement.

The G2 I got was easily 5x thicker in the thinnest places (around the top).

Also, they make plastic BMB's that are great, but slightly taller and the 6.5 gals won't fit in my ferm chamber. I have a 5 gal and I'd recommend it. Folks complain about the lid, but I've had no issues.

Nicely done. Great pictures. Thanks for documenting this dance with disaster. Happy you are unscathed.

I wouldn't be so quick to get another BMB (new or old model) from NB. They have been knowingly selling this defective/dangerous product for years. I would ask for store credit and get some ingredients or other goodies.

I am still amazed no law suits have been filed on foot of these. Perhaps there have been only we are unaware.

FWIW, I have 3 galss Italian carboys which I am phasing out. Got a couple of SS fermentors coming in September hopefully (kickstarter campaign).

Anyway, thanks again for the great pictures. Interesting to say the least. Glad the outcome was ideal.

The BMB fits perfectly in my mini fridge. I bought another food grade bucket that will fit in there but I hate the fact that I can't see in them. I would have gladly spent more for a thicker glass BMB. NB should make them thicker and really market the fact that it can fit into a mini fridge without having to modify anything! It was a great upgrade from Mr Beer's LBK without having to spend too much.
