I've never made this kit before, or indeed any lager. However this is my 9th brew (previously I have brewed English ales) and I feel more confident in experimentation. After trawling through this forum I've concocted a recipe which I plan to brew this weekend:

Can of coopers cerveza extract
150g extra light spray malt
850g brewing sugar
Saflager s23

Im also going to short brew by a couple of litres to add a little strength (as I understand the spray malt will reduce alcohol content slightly, correct me if I'm wrong!) And obviously I will be fermenting at around 11oC (52F) followed by diatecyl rest then racking into bottles and lager at around 2oC (35F).

What do you reckon people? I'm open to suggestions on my ingredients/method!

Thanks for starting this thread. I just got my DIY fermenter today and got everything cleaned.. bought some RO water and maybe will get things started tonight. It'll be the lager that came with the kit..

I'm looking for ideas to "up the ante" with the liquid ME's of Coopers. After this batch get's bottled.. and if/when the Cooper PET bottles become available again.. I'd like to try a Cerveza.. Sounds very good. I'm so new at this I'm afraid to do any experiments until I get a handful of brews under my belt..

From what I have read it sounds like the cerveza needs a little alteration to make a really good beer. I have seen a lot of people describe it as "watery" and "bland". I'm hoping the DME and lager yeast will add some body to the kit. And by the way it is a good idea to sanitise your equipment just before mixing your brew, if you let it sit the whole day you are seriously risking infection to your brew!
