Cooling in buckeg problems

First all grain today. I use a bucket with ice to cool, no wort chiller. My large pot doesn't fit well in my bucket. My question is, can I put my hot wort in to fermenter then surround that with ice? Not sure of fermenting buckets heat capacity.

The plastic acts as an insulator. It will take a long time.
