My first batch was a PM recipe that turned out really well. Now I'm AG, and I want to make this beer again. I used amber LME, and just wasn't sure about converting. Do I just convert the LME to 2-row and then up some of the specialty grains? Any suggestions or feedback appreciated. :mug: I've yet to master any of the brewing software, but I know I need to.

PM Milk Stout

7 lbs. amber malt extract
1 lb. 6-row pale malt
0.5 lb. cara-pils/dextrine
0.5 lb. chocolate malt
0.25 lb. black patent malt
0.25 lb. roasted barley
1 lb. crystal 90L
0.7 oz Nugget (11.5%) - 60 minutes
0.5 oz Kent Goldings (5.0%) - 30 minutes
0.5 oz Nugget - 10 minutes
0.5 lb lactose

I use Briess malt extract. if you do the same, it looks like you will want to use a combination of Crystal 60, Munich and 2-row (or 6-row...i think briess uses 6-row for most of their extracts)

i have to get back to work, or i'd give you a better conversion, but i'd say replace the malt extract with 10 lbs 2-row, 1 lbs munich and 0.5 lbs crystal 60.

Thanks for the link, DB. Those sound like good numbers to me. I was uncertain about the type and quantities of specialty malts. I appreciate your help! :mug:

Close! should have been 8 lbs of 2-row, not 10. other than that, the color is very close and hopefully the flavor will be, too.
