If anyone still cares about Goose Island, it looks like most of the Migration Week events in New Haven have been posted: http://www.gooseisland.com/migrationWeek.html?New-Haven
The Total Wine release was pretty chill, yet managed to have all the features of a true Bourbon County release condensed into about 45 minutes: the mystery and anticipation of what's actually being put on sale, questionable allocation decisions, tickets that guaranteed bottles that did not in fact guarantee bottles, blatant linecutting, and the subsequent complaints about that linecutting.

So... How'd you make out?

Well, I got to Total, 10 mins after start time & was shut out of the hype.
But i did get pours of Halia, year round shelfies & then a bit of Lolita when they brought out another bottle late.

Oddly enough, when i got to Cask, 10 mins late, I promptly got a pour of Prop. Who the **** knows anymore what to expect from some of these events.
(Very satisfied getting Prop e-z)

Yeah that "event" was a little bit strange. 6 VR sold to the first 6, and they could buy a rare too. I was about 18th in line, and I could buy a '14 coffee. I'm not going to complain, because a $6 aged coffee is pretty dope, plus a free t-shirt.
Interesting that Newport is raffling their VR bottles. Apparently they're aware of how sought after it is?

Does Kent Falls usually sell out of bottles on Saturdays? Headed into town and they are tops on my list of places to hit, but if I can time it towards the end of the day, works better for my schedule.

And does DeCicco's carry most of their stuff?

What in the world is going on at Steady Habit? Jon's out but the brewery is still going to continue to operate?

New Haven Craft Beer Week details if anyone didn't see them:
Join us for a week long celebration of craft beer in the greatest little city in America!

Participating locations include: Cask Republic, Barcade, Prime 16, Ordinary, Three Sheets, Pacific Standard Tavern and BAR

Much like last year, the guys over at New England Brewing Company have brewed a special beer for the occasion, dubbed the New Hay PA: a well-hopped, drinkable pale ale that will only be available at participating locations and the brewery throughout the week.

This year, we will be kicking things off with the New Hay PA cask bar crawl on Saturday, October 15th. The party will get going at 12:00 pm when we tap the first cask down at Barcade. From then, we will tap a different cask at the next bar every hour on the hour, working our way through the city and right up to Three Sheets. All casks will have a different specialty dry hop that we will reveal as we go.

From then on throughout the week, look for main events, happy hours, and special tappings all over the city at participating NHCBW locations.

Below is a tentative list of events (this will be updated as events are finalized):
Saturday:
Cask Crawl
Sunday:
Barcade - Stubborn Beauty
Monday:
Cask Republic - Stony Creek Blowout
Tuesday:
BAR - Beer'd Brewing Company
Cask Republic - Outer Light happy hour
Wednesday:
Prime 16 - Kent Falls
Cask Republic - Hanging Hills Happy Hour
Thursday:
TBD
Friday:
Ordinary - Black Hog

I am at Marzano Pizza in Torrington at a whacky Kent Falls "tap takeover". Basically just a casual Italian restaurant experience with some awesome beer being poured by the founder. No beer hoopla. The citra IPA is so damn good.

Edit: also, this place does $.05 refills (including a different beer) per purchase. Buy one Kent falls for $8.50 and pay $.05 for a token for another. Pretty tight.

Looks like Kent Falls is finally going to bottle a clean IPA with Shruggie. I hope they sort out their yeast issues by the time this gets packaged. I've actually enjoyed the Columbus presence of some of their recent IPAs like I AM TABLE and Almost, but it seems like all of their IPAs have also gotten sweeter and taken on more Belgian characteristics as well. I raved about the first release of Super Sparkle to a friend, and when batch 2 came out last month he was really disappointed and asked me if it was supposed to be a Belgian IPA.
Super Sparkle 2 did not do it for me, but the new Citra made with that state of the art hop powder or whatever is a thing of beauty. Srs. In the past I have gotten the 'too much ester/phenol' thing making the beers taste English or Belgian. The prickly pear sour is also really good.

Looks like they're filling growlers of that Wanna Experiment? (With Powder) at the brewery this weekend.

Not gonna make the drive, but hopefully I stumble across it on tap somewhere.

I really liked the Wanna Experiment but didn't quite love it. I don't think Kent IPAs have quite returned to the level the first 4 or 5 releases were at but at least they're no longer giving off Belgian notes as often as they were for a while.

Also I think the freshness issue might be in play more for them, as I've noticed a dramatic decline in my enjoyment of many of their IPAs as they age even out of the same keg. Likewise I thought the most recent Super Sparkle batch was one of their best IPAs in a while when it showed up around New Haven, but I think it was at over a month old at the time of the Marzano event GuzzleMcBrew referred to above.

Ironically, I might have had one of the first kegs tapped. Also at a reputable place that is personal friends with Derek and Barry.

Maybe it wasn't "ready"?
