I had an older chest freezer I used for my keezer until the compressor died. I then purchased a new 7.2 freezer. My only complaint is that I can't fit all 5 of my kegs in it. As the kegs are staggered, I have space between that is too small to use for much. Would it possibly work to take 4" pvc capped and filled with water, with a ss coil (or just long runs with elbows) inside the pvc, to act as a cold plate?

I would then be able to store 1-2 kegs outside the keezer. I realize if it worked, it would likely not keep up for an extended time, but was curious if something similar had been attempted.

Thanks all

Cold plates in ice cool beer down to serving temps, running beer through 38 degree water might get you the first couple pours but I'm not sure it would keep up with multiple pours.

Can you fit kegs on the hump?

I already have a collar tall enough to have a full size 5 gallon keg on the hump. I've just have been trying to come up with a way to have my 5th keg on the outside of the keezer with a cost effective enough method to serve it at a decent temp..

I might splice all my old beerline together and toss it in the bottom of the keezer, then fill a keg with water on the outside to test the idea...

Unless you have multiple CO2 tanks or regulators your keg outside the keezer is going to be undercarbonated. 2.3 vols at room temp requires somewhere around 30 psi.
