i'd like to credit the author of this tutorial with the information and inspiration to build a kegerator.
i set out convinced i could fit three kegs and a co2 tank inside the fridge. three standard corny kegs would never fit and subbing one for a smaller 2.5 gal kegs didn't work. with the help of zazbnf on this site i discovered that a small taylor syrup tank would complete my project.
everything else was available commercially, but it was tough to track down one of those 1gallon tanks. taylor sells them new for $160, but i finally found one in near perfect shape for $45 + s/h on craigslist. if you're looking for these: be creative, be persistent and use the national craigslist search!
the small keg will be for club soda and messing around with carbonating green tea, juice and so on. the lid has been modified to include a carbonating stone that will be used for beer as well.
here is a rough chronology from beginning to end:
dry erase board replaces door shelving
railings attached, taylor tank and blue tongue tap handle acquired
2 3/4" saw bit
mounting the tower
CO2 tank with caged primary regular strapped to the plate
three's company
secondary regulator with splitter ceiling mounted using the tower's bolts
happy hour
