I have heartburn, a headache, and the contents of my stomach are looking to exit in either a northerly or a southerly direction.

Successful work party last night.

Did you strip down to your underwear and dance on the tables? Did you also proceed to tell your coworkers how gnomes keep stealing your bears? For their sake I hope so! Cheers!

Maybe a dumb question, was homebrew imbibed? did you unleash the strong ale, trippel, or doppelbock on them or stick to commercial spirits, maybe a vicious nog? Or did you just bring a package of gnomes to spike the punch???

Hehe, all imbibing was done from the backbar, and the beer selection was scanty.

With that said I am actually rethinking the ethics of what I did last night. Being 1/2 of the team that set the party up, we discussed the final headcount etc. with the venue's management before going home. Since we pay by the head, the amount of money the company will be paying to the venue is sizable.

I asked if while we discussed things, if it would be an imposition to ask for another round, since the open bar had closed (with the implication we would not be paying for it.) The manager responded very positively, and we drank our 1 cosmo for my coworker and a Dewers on ice for me.

Did I rake him over the coals, or was that a legitimate request given our patronage?

I'm sure they made enough on your party to cover the cost of $1-2 worth of cheap scotch and cosmo's. So concern yourself with the gnomes and bears in your homebrew, and not drinking up his profits

Mine was last night also! Where did you guys do it? Mine was on Delancey Street. Unfortunately, our babysitter was only available for a limited time, so we had to cut the night short. We still had a great time though, and I was able to duck out before the stupidity started so the opinion I had of all my co-workers is still intact. In fact, based on what some of them said to my wife about me, I like them even more. ;)

We were on Pearl and Wall st. Never been there before, but its a nice enough space. Seems you and I are consistantly a train stop or less away.

Completely, totally legitimate. My favorite bartenders often/usually end up buying one of my drinks when I'm out at the pub watching soccer.

By the time I get all the ins and outs of etiquette and human interaction nailed down it will time for me to feed the tree...

aaah, the Christmas parties at Ford when I was young. More alkyhol & pot, hash, etc in the palnts than all the local bars combined. They'll stone ya when yer drivin in your car....
