I ordered my new faucets, shanks, tails and knobs to build a collar for my Kenmore 8.8 yesterday. I need to go look at wood this weekend and had a quick question. I measured my pin lock on the hump and I think I would need to use a 2 x 8 minimum to make it fit. I don't particularly want a collar that big, and think I am fine with just using the floor to fit 4 pin locks. So my question is the opposite, what is the smallest collar you guys would make to fit the faucets and not look weird? I am planning on doing a 2 x something and a 1 x something+ 2 to create a face with lip.

My old keezer now my fermentation chamber has a 2 by 4 collar that would fit shanks no problem. You can also get yourself a three gallon keg for that hump. I have four on the floor and a three gallon on the hump.

I set my CO2 on the hump, kegs are on the floor. I'm using 1x6 oak, with 2" of insulation behind it. 4 shanks, kegs, plenty of room to move them around a bit. (8.8 cu ft.black kenmore)
the bottling/kegging forum has a sticky - "show us your kegerator" with tons of styles to get inspiration from.
mine's here.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am thinking 2 x 6 with a 1 x 6 face backed with insulation. I was thinking of using this fan to move some air, wasnt sure how much CFM I would need, but I liked how this one is already wired for a 110v source.

I have been lurking that show your keg thread for a couple weeks now, this site has a lot of good stuff on it =)

that fan is fine. just get the air moving to avoid freezing the bottom layer of your beer...

If you have an old computer, and any old cellphone charger...it could all be free.
