Called a local gas supplier in town to inquire about CO2. It's going to cost me $150 up front to get a 5lb bottle full of gas. After that, they trade me a full for an empty for the price of the gas. This sound about right to you guys?

I'm not sure what they go for new, but I got my 20# tank and 3 corny kegs for $150 on craigslist. Might check around for used tanks before buying one from the supplier.

That said, make sure you get one with a date that's only a few years old or newer. Can't remember the exact cut off, but if it's order than a certain date, you'll get charged a fee for electro static testing.

I just figured I'd get the tank from them so there would be no question. I don't want to spend money on a tank and run the risk of them refusing to fill it.

I can't get one keg for $150. Someone here in town has a keg and bottle with a regulator, asking $250.

I just got 2 corny kegs for $90 last night at the LHBS. Going to be going back for a 5lb aluminum tank filled for $85. A place near work quoted me $90 for aluminum tank filled also.

The beverage place that fills my CO2 tanks sold me a 5lb. tank full for $80 last summer and that was in downtown Chicago. Seems like your guy is taking you to the cleaners... Fills here are $20... What is your guy asking?

What can I say. This is Alaska. I've gotten used to being taken to the cleaners on certain things. I thought it was high. Just didn't know by how much.
I'm waiting on shipping quotes from two merchants on kegs. Its hard to find anyone that will ship them for less than $50 per keg. I figure my setup will be close to $350-$400.
