CO2 laying down?

It needs to be upright.
The liquid co2 will boil off and give you the gas that you use in your system. If you lay your tank down...it will feed liquid CO2 into your regulator. Not Good.
Picture your tank full of water...it will help you visualize the effect.
 
you can only lay it down if you have a tube installed inside that reaches up out of the liquid CO2 into the pocket of gas.

otherwise you dump liquid Co2 inthe regulator, and then get to buy a new regulator.
