what is the best way to clean your glasswear? I have heard you should rinse them is a salt water soultion after washing then rinse them with hot water after that. Is this correct? or is there a better way?

I have read in several books where they says not to use soap because of the film that gets left behind. Have used the dishwasher many times, on my common beer glasses. I make sure rinse thingy has jet dry inside. Most of the time I use lots and lots of hot water, nothing else. I do this is on my favorite Juliper Biere Mug and my Wernesgruner Pils Glass. I usually do the hot rinse on every glass whenever I serving my own beer.

I noticed the other day on a bottle BTF Idophor that I has instructions for cleaning glassware in it. It calls out a couple of related products for cleaning, then the use of BTF on sanitizing glasses. I suppose you could sanitze your glassware... I believe this was intended for commercial applications. It suggests contacting the Dep of Health for suitable ppm levels of iodine.

If your tap water is drinkable, I would just use hot water. If you prefer to use soap be sparingly on the amount you use and rinse well.

For the length of time and the temps of your beers, clean glasses are enough-- you shouldnt' need to sanitize.

I've never had a problem with residue from soap using my dishwasher.

I agree. If the glass are spot free from washer they are fine. If you hand wash, rinse well and air dry. Lint from towel drying will stay on the glass.

I use the KISS aproach. Dishwasher... lately I've been rinsing with hot water just to see if it effects head or not.

I throw a little pbw into a sink of hot water. soak for half an hour, then rinse well with really hot water. Set upside down on a towel until dry, and throw them back into the freezer.
