I think I posted this question in the wrong place so here it is again. Are people putting clamps on this line when they squeeze:drunk:this line over a 1/4 inch barb? I am talking about the 3/16 inch line. I know there are other treads on this line, I have read most of them and haven't seen my question really answered. So what is everyone who uses this line doing? Thanks

I did - if you're talking about the hard thin stuff from birdseye brewing.

I heated it with hot water then put it over the barbs - it did take some time and while the connections seems very secure I used small hose clamps on them as well - just for my own peace of mind.

Yeah I doubt they would come off on their own as I had to heat it back up with boiling water to pull the lines off. But its better to be safe than sorry right? And honestly how much does a small hose clamp cost. .25?

IMHO, it's absolutely necessary to put clamps on any line on a barb fitting if there is pressure behind it. Trusting the friction fit of vinyl tubing on a barb fitting is only asking for an eventual disaster!

I highly recommend the use of Oetiker clamps and the proper Oetiker clamp crimper. They hold like no other.

I did not use clamps. IMO that tubing is so ridged that a clamp really isn't doing any clamping of the tubing. There were a couple of barbs that I had to redo and the only way the tubing would come off was by cutting it off. When I put the tubing on I has to use a heat gun, then I applied heat once it was on effectively molding it to the barbs.
