Looking to the boards for last minute advice on using citra and mosaic together.

I've got .75oz Nugget (13%AA), 2oz. Citra (14%AA) and 2oz. Mosaic (11.6%AA).

Nugget is going in at 60, which should give me 26 IBU when factoring dilution by 2g top off water in a 5g batch. Not sure on the use of the other two. I would like a more tropical fruit flavor, which I think Mosaic provides best, but then I've read bad things about boiling Citra too much.

Just toss 1 oz. each in at 20 and the other 1 oz. of each in at 2 min.?

Any suggestions? All in the boil or should I dry hop (this is my 4th brew and never done a dry hop so dont know it's potential to impact the beer for flavor/aroma/bittering)? This is a big one with 9lb. LME and 1# corn sugar so I'd like 40-60 IBU's, so....target is 50?....typing out thoughts now.

Thanks in advance.

I'm drinking a citra IPA now that I recently brewed that adds up to 74 IBU's. I was wary of bittering with citra also so I bittered with warrior and added the citra at 15 and 0 and I got no badness at all (ie cat piss).. just pure citrus/orange juice.

I have some mosaic on order now because I'm really digging the tropical flavor too, but I can't speak first hand about that. I can say that if you can get a bottle of Victory Dirt Wolf DIPA, do so! It has citra and mosaic and is incredible.

incredible.

What amount of both the warrior and citra did you use?

I've got a new thought now to do 1oz citra at 15 min and 1 oz. at 5 min, then dry hop with 2 oz mosaic. An online IBU calculator gave me over 70 IBU with this (including 60 min of .75 oz Nugget). Sounds a little high; I think their tool considers it a 5 gallon boil. I'm anticipating 3 gallons of wort and then 2 gallon top off water.

I also did roughly 3 gallons with 2 of top up water. This was my last extract brew before trying out all grain. I did 0.5oz Warrior (16% aa) @60 min, 2.0 oz Citra (12.15 aa) @ 15, and 2.0 oz Citra again @ 0 (whirlpool while chilling for 15 min). Then dry hopped with 2.0 oz Citra for 7 days. OG was 1.063, bottled at 1.014.

I did this as an experiment to try out the citra, so I kept the malt profile low (7lbs extra light DME, 1lb crystal 10, .5 lb carapils). Used Wlp001 with starter.

Can't wait to incorporate some Mosaic into the mix. Good luck.

I overestimated my evaporation rate, and only ended up adding a gallon of top off water. So with the 4 gallong boil I am now expecting 85 IBU coming from the 60 Nugget 15 5 Citra and dry hop Mosiac schedule. OG was 1.078. The Citra smelled great!

Edit: now thinking of dry hopping 1oz. of Mosaic instead of 2oz. 85 sounds quite high. But I'll taste it first either way..

They are awesome together I made an pale ale recently that I bittered with a little cascade and the rest was late hop mosaic and citra. I also dry hopped with an ounce of each, it was pure bliss. Added a touch of honey malt also, I hightly suggest this combo you won't be dissapointed!
