No more squished mashtun hoses.

SWMBO asked me what to do with the turkey frying attachement my fryer (which is my kettle) came with (Bayou Classic from Ace hardware).

I was about to tell her to toss it, when I had an idea...

Standard cooler mash tun-

Fryer attachment thingy, modified with jig saw to fit around the outlet valve-

This should keep a majority of the weight off of my hoses. I'm mashing right now. If it ends in tears I'll let you know.

Are you trying to fly sparge with this rig? If you're batch sparging, you don't need that complex series of braids. Just one short one would be fine.

Fly sparging, the more the merrier.

The insert also allows me to squish all the good stuff out with a potato masher, without collapsing the lines.

1) POWDERED TOAST MAN!~ I MISSED YOU!!!!

2) That's an effing good idea! I wish I were using a round cooler now! I have two of those dumb lifter-turkey-thingies sitting around unused.

3) Yre a genius! :D

4) I'm noticing there are a lot of Ren and Stimpy fans on here :)

I like the setup, but you should never compress the grain bed. Instead, fly sparge until the runnings are thin (1.008-1.010) or until you have collected enough wort.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but why not?

Now I'm curious.
