$42 for 50 feet of 3/8" tubing? That's not awful, but nothing to write home about either... After factoring in shipping, that's probably not far off from the price at my local home improvement store (home depot), which I consider to be pretty high.
http://www.coppertubingsales.com/pricing.php has the same for $34.25.
Of course, none of those are in Australia for you either...
