The instructions say to condition it by heating vegetable oil in it...
Is this a good idea or bad idea if it will be used in brewing?

Just got this kettle and it is totally the best 10 gallon kettle you are going to get for $34.00:rockin:

My local walmart has 8 gal aluminum tamale steamers for $25 right now. Thinking of picking one up.

That seems like a good deal for an inexpensive brew pot. 8 gal is a good size as well. Just big enough IMO, yet not too big.

Granted it is likely thin, but should work just fine for the price.

8.33lbs in a gallon of water x 30 gallons= 249.9lbs plus weight of the pot. Ha, get an engine lift for that sucker... Just think, you could make a 3 tier setup for the cost of 1 hooked up keggle... and twice the capacity. Call it your 1bbl system(a little roundup math never hurt anyone)

Full boil is best. But you will need some kind of chiller to cool it. If you do 2-3g partial boils then you can usually cool in your kitchen sink with an ice bath.
