I guess my question is why add a crowler machine? Isn't it easy enough to fill growlers / half growlers?

True BUT there are enough absent-minded folks out there like myself who always forget to bring a growler (or just don't want to lug it in both directions) on trips to Cellarmaker that will benefit from this.

Yeah, but from what I can tell with the current volume of beer they produce it doesn't seem necessary to try to push more out the door, and I would prefer beers stay available for longer as growler options. I don't think they have issues with beer sitting, and they certainly have places that are willing to take kegs if necessary. But, I don't have any insight into the actual operations of the brewery, so what do I know...

Could just be a "get with the times" or "give your customers more options" move than one purely to move more beer, but I could be being naive in thinking it could be the latter.

Pretty hard to punch a car key through the barcode on a glass growler when you shotgun it.
The real answer is reducing the barriers to customers buying growlers -- either don't have glass/put off by the price, or they own growlers they don't have on them.

Gonna be there around 3pm today if anyone is around. Sad Orange Julian is already long gone though

per FB: Today we are pouring a cask of Wagoner porter conditioned on Beignets from Brenda's. Time to celebrate ends and new beginnings!

Damn, might have to drop in for a few pours.

Since this an Other Half release, does that mean I have to drive 11 hours or sleep over night in my car while my wife is at home with our newborn.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/06/dining/craft-breweries-lines-ale.html?_r=0

"
Shortly before 11 on a Friday night in January, Justin Saurer parked his car on a gritty Brooklyn street that was best known for its McDonald’s and proximity to the toxic Gowanus Canal until Other Half Brewing Company opened in 2014.

Mr. Saurer craved a first crack at the special India pale ale that Other Half had created to celebrate its third anniversary. But the cans wouldn’t go on sale until the brewery opened at 10 a.m.

What was 11 hours, given his plum perch?

“When you’re the first one here, you don’t have to worry about parking,” Mr. Saurer, 38, said the next morning. A firefighter and a father of an infant daughter at home, he drove in from Amityville, on Long Island, with a sleeping bag. “I have the best sleep in the car,” he said. “There are no kids screaming.”"

Does anyone here have any idea how Cellarmaker is not only tapping the Alvarado St beer, but also doing growler fills of it? Did the CA law change when it comes to guest taps at breweries or something? Or are they just saying **** it no one ever gets busted for this? Very curious.
