I have had a batch of American Amber fermenting in a 6 1/2 gallon bucket for a week and I want to start my second batch of Irish Stout. I can get another bucket online shipped for about 30 bucks or go to my local brewing store and they only have plastic carboys. Not sure which route to go. Any help?

Thanks!

Not an expert by any means but since I got my glass carboy, I can't stop staring at the thing... I really like being able to easily observe the process. Other than that they're equivalent...Also nice to support the local brewing store ;)

Can't say I know of any definitive reason to go one way or another. It is a lot of personal choice. I'd say you could use a carboy to go with you equipment. You can use it as another primary or as a secondary. Glass or plastic makes no difference to me. I chose plastic for breakage safety and lower weight. Having two buckets and two carboys gives you lots of flexibility

Cheers

LHBS ended up having some buckets in the back so I went that route. Thanks for the input!

I like buckets for the handles. But maybe pickup a few extra lids. :rockin:
I like glass cause it's classy. :)
I'm still on the fence with plastic bottles. It's the inconvience of carrying a carboy with the scatchability of a plasitc bucket. :p
