Carboy and fermentation bucket

My kit came with a fermentation bucket and a carboy, is that so I have the option to do a secondary fermentation?

If the carboy is 5 gallons it may be meant for use as secondary vessel. If the carboy is 6 gallons it is meant to be used for primary fermentation and the bucket would be used for bottling if it has a spigot.
