I have a mostly fermented batch of brewers best cider that I will be bottling in a few days. When I started homebrewing I went straight to kegging because it seemed a lot quicker and easier than bottling, but then I realized I could only ever have two batches on hand since I only have room for two kegs in my keezer. To work around this, I had planned on bottling this batch. Most of the brewers best beer kits include instructions for bottling with some priming sugar to bottle carbonate. I just realized the cider instructions want you to use carbonation drops, of which I don't have any.
So my question is, can I use priming sugar the way you would with a beer to bottle carbonate or is that not going to work? I have a ton of priming sugar left over from the beer batches I kegged.
I happen to have an empty keg so I can always keg the cider, but I was looking forward to trying something different this time, not to mention the greatly enhanced portability that bottles provide over kegs.
My nearest HB store is about 45 mins away, so I'd rather not make a trip just for carbonation drops. Any other options that would allow me to bottle this batch?
