Cane Sugar or Corn Sugar ???

Hey All,
I am going to be making a batch of root beer with my son today, and I noticed the recipe calls for Cane Sugar and the guy at the LHBS put the kit together with Corn Sugar. Will it matter or should I use cane sugar like the recipe calls for?

To most people cane sugar is much sweeter (about twice) than corn sugar. Personally, I like my sodas less sweet, but I'm definitely a minority there.
