i made a wheat beer today and while i was at my LHBS they said it would be cheaper to buy the kit than all the ingredients seperatly so i did that. However it was packaged with something called candi sugar which i was told to put into the boil for a full hour and i hav no idea what it is or what it does. anyone know what candi sugar will add to my beer?

i get that it is for belgian beers but what taste or body does it add to the beer?

Yes, it's almost entirely fermentable, and it lightens the body of the beer. It's used to beef up the OG and ABV of belgians without turning them into massively dense meals-in-a-glass like certain porters and stouts.
