Does anybody in Canada have a good source for 50kg sacks of 2 row? I'm buying from the LHBS at the moment and paying $50 per sack, and wondering if I can get this cheaper elsewhere. If there are any maltsters willing to sell single sacks that you know of, or online stores with low shipping charges I appreciate any leads!

...I'm in Alberta and know of Canada Malting, but I think they only sell commercially (unconfirmed).

$50 for 55lb of 2 row is a fantastic price IMO. I pay approx $60 a sack here in Wpg and I thought that was cheap. You'll be hard pressed to find it any cheaper anywhere, including south of the border.

I just noticed you typed 50kg? These sacks are usually sold in 55 lb bags. IF in fact you are getting 50kg for $50 please share! I'll fill up my vehicle next time I'm Alberta.

Oops! My bad... yes, 55lb, not kg. Its $50 for a 25kg sack, not 50. So, even at this price I'm getting it cheaper than you?

That makes more sense. IMO, that is still a great price and much cheaper than I'm getting in Wpg. I'll be curious to hear what other Canadians are paying. I think you'll find you are getting a deal.

I've heard that malting companies sometimes take bulk orders if a group of people can get together, so if anyone has a lead on this as well...

Here in quebec I go to mout international in Montreal (www.biereetvin.com), and they charge $37 if I remember correctly for 55lb of Canada malting 2 row. That's pick up price... It's all they sell at that price though. For specialty grains I order from ontario beer kegs.

Cambrinus malting Armstrong BC. You gotta pick it up. 2 row is $26.90 will sell 2 homebrewers. No minimum

Damn, I wish I lived in the area. That's a crazy price.
