Can I use Sodastream Plastic bottles?

So I was tagging along behind SWMBO in Bed Bath & Beyond looking for things I could buy that would help with brewing and I see this SodaStream...below it are these really solid plastic bottles (not cheap), but they cap really well and according to their claims they hermetically seal. Which means they have an airtight seal.

So what do you all think? I know they are clear...but aside from that, I have a dark basement. Do you think these would be good for a couple of bottles of Mead, Apflewein, or even Beer?

SWMBO and I hardly ever finish a whole 750ml bottle of anything if its just us, so this could be something to easily reuse?

Well, 15 bucks for 2 plastic bottles seems a bit steep whent there are plenty of free or cheaper alternatives for bottling out there, including plastic ones. There's no reason they won't work I think...just why would you spend so much on them?

In theory it would work good however, the cost is WAY high. 15 bucks for 2 bottles and 25 for the co2 cartridges would get expensive fast. just my 2 cents.....

Why not just buy a case of small plastic bottles from your LHBS? Or save soda bottles?

Just reuse soda bottles and priming sugar. Plus if you make a stout or porter and leave the coke label on the bottle you can take it places cause people just think it's soda

Oh, I thought that since they were a thicker more solid plastic that they would be more effective. And they twist on more than normal bottles....I know its expensive and was just considering it.
They aren't suppose to let as much air out as normal I guess?
