Can I swap kegs out half way?

Just curious if it's possible (acceptable??) to swap out kegs once they've been tapped? I tend to make higher gravity beers and just getting into kegging, but curious if I can swap out a keg and have the half-full keg sit at room temperature for days or even weeks before going back in the kegerator. Thoughts?

Sure. It's fine.

Just remember that beer ages faster at room temperature, so if you've got a beer that doesn't need more age, storing it cooler will keep it at its peak longer- but that's true with bottled beer also.

Thanks Yooper! Good to know I can rotate kegs in & out even if they're not kicked.

Keep the outside of those posts clean and I've never had a problem.

Every time you move a keg you'll stir up the sediment in the bottom too. Just FYI...

Whenever I'm ready to keg a beer but don't have an empty 5 gal. keg, I transfer from a less than half full keg into my little 2-1/2 gal. keg. Use a beer line with a liquid out connector on each end. It's clean and easy, and you can leave any sediment behind in the empty keg.
