Somewhat of a novice still, only my 3rd all grain batch.

I made a 10 gallon batch of hazelnut brown ale but also put 4 oz of organic quick rolled oats in the mash to get a little oatmeal touch to it. I was thinking of using brown sugar to prime at bottling. Thought it may add a nice touch to the finished flavor.

Anyone out there have any input on this?

Will brown sugar produce the proper carbonation as corn sugar does?

Do you think it'll even have enough effect on the flavor to bother using brown sugar, or should I just stick w/ the corn sugar?

Thanks for any input!

You absolutely can prime with brown sugar. As far as I know it's 100% fermentable, but you might want to double check that. If it is, just use the same amount of brown sugar that you would use of corn sugar.

EDIT: according to Revvy's table, it is 100% fermentable, so use the same amount as you would corn sugar if you carbonate to style.
