Can I pre sterilise bottles?

Hi
Is it possible to sterilise PET bottles in advance? i.e sterilise just now and put screw cap on for use in say 2 - 3 weeks?

I don't think it would hurt, but be sure to re-sterilise your cap after filling the bottle, drop it in a bowl of star-san or whatever you are using.

A really solid rule of thumb to follow in brewing is--------

Clean just after use, sanitize just before use.
