I have a 20# CO2 tank that I got from a distributor going out of bus. The stamp on it is '06. I'm guessing they've used and refilled it since, but not sure just how long ago.

Can the CO2 go bad or stale? It doesn't smell bad or musty or anything...

No it can't go bad. It's a gas that could be millions of years old already.

I thought the 1/2 life is about 6000 years?

That's C-14, which is a radioactive isotope of carbon, which is present in negligible amounts for our purposes. Our CO2 should not be significantly radioactive...

and conveniently enough C-14 breaks down into nitrogen so if you wait long enough you'll have something nice for your stouts.

(c-14 is 1 part per trillion... of the carbon we have on terra world)
