I love his vocals, and the way they construct a feeling in that song, and then tears it all down. They are very gifted at what they do. Though there new albumn was average at best.

I liked the new one ok but you're right... Doesn't have the soul like it use to.

Isn't that always the case with metal. I think the musicians in it are so dynamic in nature they only catch one emotion per album. If you missed that album then you are not getting the true feeling of the band. I usually only like 1 or 2 albums of each band, then after that they change and I am no longer drawn to them. Rightly so i think it is a testament to there musicianship, and a draw back to my artistic ear.

Take Ulver for instance every album is different but then every album is amazing, it follows a core that all metal heads adhere to. On the other hand enslavement of beauty, by my book only captured that emotion with, " Traces o' Red," the rest of there music took a very different path.

i like caliban, and hevan shall burn (two that come to mind). also i was just in the hardcore/punk rock thread, and brought up demolition hammer which they said would be better suited for this thread.

@OP, symphonyX is the ****. the same friend of mine that turned me on to them also turned me on to some weird **** called blotted ink, i think the album was called buck fever. really weird, but definitely fun to listen to

Shift that is very true, it is usually the first and second albumn that are most appealing. Then they get full of themselves lazy and fat. Or maybe that is just what has happened to me. Hahaha.

Exhibit A: ‘Young’ Dameon (Limbonic Art).

(I fully realize this is a picture of him playign with zyklon)

Exhibit B: ‘Older’ Dameon (I don’t know which one is him).

Still some bands stay quite constant throughout the years, the majority change enormously. I always wondered, being that most metal is such a childish/fantasy type of a world at times. Most musicians can’t help but grow out of it, I do not think I have ever been into any scene where 98 percent of the stuff I listened to was absolute crap, but then again I have never heard music as good at that 2% that is worth something.

Well since you bastids got bored with this thread, here is some chocolate rain.

Not bored, just busy...

That's just plain wrong!!! Choco rain, WTF?

I'll get some good stuff posted soon, thinking of a prog run since you did such a good job with the SBM.

Check out the new avatar, looking good. :rockin:

edit: to small back to the basics.

What would have been the avatar.

Damn Shanecb, I had to hear that with out the video, so cheesy. That drummer is amazing he sounds like the drummer from Belphegor.

Weeping birth, this guy is amazing one man band. Though he uses a drum machine the composition of the music is awesome for being technical death. Amazing stuff.

edit: Shanecb drummer has this style constant blast beats, very nice indeed.

Would grindcore go in this thread or the punk/hardcore thread?
(aww yeah, shane embury guest appeareance on bass)

Anyway I'm hoping someone got some sweet grind to recommended.
Bands I got on my radar: Insect Warfare, Phobia, Nasum, Napalm Death, Repulsion, Rotten Sound, Sayyadina, Carcass, Last Days of Humanity, Gadget, General Surgery, Lock Up, Regurgitate, Splitter, Terrorizer and (brutal truth). Also serves as recommendations for people.

I'm by no means an authority on grindcore, but do you know Drop Dead and His Hero is Gone? Two awesome bands from the 90's. HHIG isn't really grindcore, more like sludge hardcore, but they were incredible.

Haven't checked out Drop Dead for some reason, I've seen the name here and there so...

Fun story (sort of) about HHIG, saw a record "Tragedy - S/t" on swedish ebay, which said it had former HHIG members in the band, so I took a shot and bought it without further investigation. Of course it was awesome and I thought I had found something nice and obscure. Two weeks later I went to the largest punk festival around here and everyone was wearing Tragedy t-shirts and patches.

Tragedy's s/t is amazing, they always play discharge covers too. They were one of my favorite bands for awhile.

I'm pretty stoked I'm getting to see from ashes rise and victims next month.
