Hey Guys,

I have a brewing blog at wholegrainbrewing.com. A cursory search of the forums shows that a lot of you guys also have brewing blogs. I propose we make a list, in this thread, so that people (myself included) can subscribe to RSS feeds, or otherwise put these blogs on their radar.

I would also like to start a "comment ring." A big part of the reason to blog is to get discussions going, but sometimes that takes a little bit of a push. The idea with a comment ring is that several blog authors informally agree to comment on each other's blogs. We don't need to maintain a list, and there is no need for hurt feelings. If someone stops commenting on your blog, you can stop commenting on theirs.

So, please post a link to your blog, and let me know if you'd be interested in participating in a comment ring. I will keep a complete list of homebrewtalk members' (who respond) brew blogs in this post, so they're easy to find.

By the way, nice blog. One thing, you might want to consider having links on in a new window/tab, that keeps people from wandering away from your site when they click the links in your recipes, etc.

I'm terrible at keeping logs, and labeling things, luckily I'm pretty good about updating my blog, so if I need to remember an OG or when a beer was brewed I can just look back to http://beer.hexkrak.com.

Yep. I haven't found the plugin to be particularly useful, though. It does two things for me: 1) Gives me a web form I can use to populate the DB, and 2) Gives me the data in JSON format for use with my javascript. It has *tons* of other features that don't suit my needs.

I'm not really happy with the solution, though, since all of this stuff could be calculated server-side, rather than leaving it up to javascript.

There really isn't any code to share, except what you can get already by viewing source. Most of the code is javascript. Here are direct links:

One gotcha you may run into: If you change your schema or interface (web form for entering data) in any way, the api key changes, and you have to update your code. While in development, my javascript has broken that way three times.

Edit: If you're interested in how I actually populate the html with that data, check out: http://api.jquery.com/tmpl/. It's a pretty slick solution to html templates in javascript.

If you find the DB plugin overkill, you could always just code it manually using HTML's built in table functionalities. I used that in a blog I built for the place I work here: http://blog.drewestate.com/index.php/brands/acid/

If you dig it, I can shoot you the basic code structure, or just Google it.

Well, I am a home brewer who just built a HERMS setup....but I blog about commercial IPA (and sometimes other beers). I will soon be adding a section about my home brews as I currently have 3 IPA on tap... (IPA is all I drink really).
