Bubbles in Hydrometer = fermentation?

Never really seen this many bubbles in my hydrometer when checking to see if fermentation is done. My beer is at about 1.019 so I think I can still get a few points out of it (estimated FG is 1.010).

Do these bubbles mean fermentation is still going on?

Almost certainly, especially if your predicted FG is 9 points lower than the hydro sample then, yes.

BUT..... (there's always a 'but') the bubbles can also be dissolved gasses, mostly CO2, coming out of solution. Spin the hydro to dislodge bubbles on it and read the SG. Then wait a day (or 2), take another sample, degassing if necessary, and see if it's dropped from the previous reading. If so, fermentation is still going on. If readings are stable over three days, you can assume that fermentation is complete, OR.....(in this case there are two 'or's) it has either stalled OR slowed to the point where three days can't register a discernable change.

We can't say from a picture or even predicted FG compared to your reading. How long has it been? What temperature has it been during fermentation? Recipe? Temperature of the sample? Have you checked the calibration of the hydrometer?

I have often had beers finish higher than the predicted FG.

If in doubt wait a couple days and take another gravity reading.
