just bottled my first beer on Saturday (AiH "Goldfinger" Honey Wheat) and had a blast doing it. Of course, my dad and I had to sample the little bit that couldn't make a decent bottle, even flat and warm it tasted pretty good. Have high hopes!
Now for my concern, after bottling we cleaned up, re-santized everything and started making a Kolsch (Brewer's Best kit) for my dad (he spent a LOT of time in Cologne during the 90s for work). Everything went smooth, O.G. came out slightly less (1.040 instead of 1.042) but I chalk that up to being a tad more than 5 gallons instead of 5 gallons on the mark. All ways going well, started burpin' around the 4 hour post pitching mark and then had very vigorous bubbling (like 1 every 3-5 seconds) up til some time over the night. I woke up this morning to check on it and there was zero movement. Temperature remained constant (around 68-70).
The same thing happened with my first batch where it bubbled rapidly for a day and half or so then stopped (although that was at a 64-66 degree range). Sadly, we were so excited that we made a batch that I forgot to take an O.G. with my fist batch. I checked it a few days after it stopped burping and it still had a nice amount of kraeusen still. Would it be possible that I have an air leak? I wouldn't think so since I had action to begin with but don't really know what else to think.
