Me and Stan Hieronymus, whose books on Farmhouse Ales and on Hops are among my favorites. We judged the Best of Show round at the Happy Holidays Homebrew Competition in St. Louis on Saturday. Really nice guy and it was fun judging with him and our mutual friend, Sandy.

Also visited with Denny Conn at the competition, whose books I've also read! Didn't act quickly enough to get my photo with him, though.

Saw Stan once or twice giving seminars. He talked for an hour or more on hops and you can tell he barely touched his knowledge of hops. He is one smart man! Gives a great seminar as well. if you ever get a chance to see him talk in person, I highly recommend.

Did you brew the Helles?

More of a liechtbier I squinted at and decided was closest to Euro Pale Lager, but, yes.

I did BOS in STL last year with Stan/Sandy, and interestingly we picked the same basic style you did.

Thanks--
Michael

It was presented to us as a Helles. And that is funny about last year - style bias is definitely an issue at the BOS round.
