Has anybody opened a Cuir lately? Going back and forth between that and the Fruet for the TB charity share.

I opened an Elements of Funk Brett Drei last night that literally shot 3-4 feet in the air when the cap came off. Over half the bottle coated my kitchen walls, cabinets and floor.

After being shipped from the Bruery it's sat in my wine fridge at 50*F and sat upright for a few hours in a normal fridge prior to opening.

I'm worried about my other bottles exploding, to be honest.

The beer was ok, but not worth keeping around for the risk of possibly having to clean glass and beer out my fridges.

Anyone else experience this? Are all the EoF bottles becoming aggressively carbonated? I haven't opened any from the rest of the series yet.

Cross posted with the other site's thread, mostly bc it's more active. But ******* I'm still pissed about having to wipe down my coffee maker, drawers, floors, walls, cabinets, baby bottles that were out I had to re-wash and dry, etc etc.

I'm seriously contemplating dumping the whole lot of them.

I haven't had an Elements of Funk that didn't gush at least a little bit, but nothing to that degree.

I would suggest opening them At fridge temp and then letting it warm up in your glass. That should at least cut down on the gushing.

I dont even know who I am anymore. I thought I had the Bruery pegged and could tell based on description of beer alone if its something I will like or not.

Juggling Walruses - I was expecting this to be a train wreck of acidity like some aged batches of tart of darkness. Nope, absolutely loved it. Cannot believe thats 10% abv... I could drink an entire bottle and go back for more.

Chocolate Salty BBLS - What a decadent smell that has but the taste just doesnt do it for me. I saw plenty of people compare it to Chocolate Rain and I see why but for having a slightly lower ABV, it somehow has more focus on alcohol and less of the other things I was expecting.

Boysenberry Oude Tart - I love Oude Tart but this just tastes like instead of berries they added balsalmic vinegar.

And to take it a bit further, I thought Chupacabra, likely weak expression of brett overpowered by hops, let's see how one-dimensional it can be. NOPE. Ridiculous complexity, reminded me of slightly more hoppy Orval, and now wishing I had a case.

Completely agree on everything, although I can't comment on Juggling Walruses because I didn't buy any because I had the same thoughts as you.

Chupacabra was fantastic. I loved it.

Anything with Brett that the bruery pumps out I will sit on for at least a year.
I cracked my last bottle of saison tonn(b1) a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic!
But I will say that chup was really good fresh too..but holding on to some bottles for more Brett to shine more.

I'm really beginning to wonder if this year's Chocolate Rain is ****** up.

How many months now has it been on the "On The Horizon" portion of the email?

I was about to say, I wouldn't be surprised if Chocolate Rain is ****** this year. The first email I can find with it as part of "On the Horizon" is March 7.

Chronology™:24

Chronology:24 is the fourth and final installment in a two-year long, four-part experiment with barrels and time. We brewed a beer rich and malty with undertones of brown sugar, toffee and toasted French bread and set it to age in bourbon barrels. Every six months, we took a quarter of the barrels, blended them and bottled them. This fourth bottling represents the flavors imparted in the base beer after 24 months of barrel aging.

Frucht™: Apricot

We’re totally Frucht around here. In fact, we may just be filled to the brim, with excitement, that is. Our threshold is 250 BBLs, to be more precise. That’s the total capacity of each oak foeder at Bruery Terreux. One is dedicated exclusively to Frucht, our series of fruited Berliner Weisse-style beers. Known for a tart flavor profile and traditionally low ABV, our German-style wheat beer gains even more funky notes and natural earthy-woodiness from its fermentation in the large oak foeder vessel. Each installment in the series will feature a new fruit, or Frucht, if we’re Sprechen sie Deutsch. This installment has apricots added, which escalates the juicy, racy and palate-cleansing prowess of the base beer. Prost!

Dodie™

It’s time to dip the bill with Dodie, all you fellas and flappers. Dodie is inspired by a classic New York concoction and shares a nickname with Grandma Rue, who was quite keen on the ritzy drink. It’s got no giggle juice on its rap sheet, but it’s a dandy recreation of the profile of a classic Manhattan cocktail - from the grain (rye, corn, wheat and barley), bourbon character from barrel-aging, and a complex blend of 30+ spices and grape must for bitters-eque and vermouth-like notes. Fancy a garnish? We saved you a step. Cherries and orange zest come out as your kisser hits glass.

Quadrupel Tonnellerie™

Our Tonnellerie series is the perfect showcase of our "wildly traditional bière". French for “cooperage”, each beer in the series shares one core trait: they were all fermented in oak. Beyond that, the recipes and styles are as unique as the cues they take from nature. Quadrupel Tonnellerie, a barrel-fermented Belgian-style quadrupel with blackberries, is no exception. A style known for being at the more malty, complex and rich end of the Belgian strong ale spectrum, this quad revels in layers of sweet caramel, dark fruit and figgy flavors, and complimentary undercurrents of oak. The natural esters from the Belgian yeast compliment the rustic, earthy qualities derived from the barrels and piquant flavors from the fruit for a dynamic flavor profile and mouthfeel that will evolve over time.

Mélange #14™

Our Mélange series is a chance to roll out the barrels, roll up our sleeves and explore flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. French for "blend", this mélange fuses the mature character of some of our most vintage barrels of barleywine and old ale with the dark depth of our imperial stouts, including both Tuesday-themed releases and Share This. This mélange is one for all, with rich, complex notes and the signature kiss of oak.

Frambulous™

We've been up a kriek before. This is an entirely different excursion. French for "raspberry", the term "framboise" is most commonly used when referring to raspberry fruited oak-aged sour ale. And we think that's just Frambulous. Literally. Our SoCal take on the Belgian-style beer is a blend of oak-aged sour ale with raspberries, imparting a pinkish opulence to complement its boisterous, bubbly mouthfeel.
