i sincerely hope that the pumpkin porter isn't this month's only beer. did they send out the email about it? i split a membership and it's the other person's email on the account.

No email yet. Not out of the normal to not get one yet. Haven't the last 2 came past 10am anyways?

Derp, I wasn't logged in. Although that raises another question, why the bloody **** is their website's cookie so terrible? I think it lasts a day or two. Since CC information isn't stored this is really stupid.

I had issues with staying logged in for months, and then it randomly started working properly around May or June and I haven't had to log in since. No idea if they changed something or what it was, but I was shocked when it finally worked.

And christ, obviously Ignis Fatuus and Rueuze aren't the only beers for the month. Sometimes the beers go up around 9, sometimes closer to 10. If they end up pushing stuff back, complain about it, but freaking out before the allocations are all up and email is out is dumb.

Looks like they're up now. Golden Orchard, Ignis Fatuus, Mash, ToD with Cherries and Vanilla and (hopefully uninfected) White Chocolate.
I am extremely excited for ToD with cherries and vanilla. The rest are not of much interest, with the possible exception of Golden Orchard.

What's the story with Golden Orchard?

Golden Orchard | $7.99 ----$9.99----

Golden Orchard is a Belgian-style golden ale that was fermented with both our house yeast as well as a strain of brettanomyces. After months of bottle conditioning, the yeast lent delightful flavors of fresh cut Gala apples to the beer and inspired its name. Bright, fruity and effervescent, like a bottle of golden California sunshine.

Allocation Limits RS/HS: 3/6
Ready for pick-up/shipping: 9/8/14

I'm going to be sort of sad if that's really "Mystery Beer #1"

So basically Golden Tonnellerie?

it can't be mystery beer #1. But it sounds good and is pretty cheap.

Tripel tonnelerie was the standout beer this year. Regretting only buying 2 of those. If golden is anywhere close!!!! whoa.

These allocations are ridiculously small. I was hoping to order 4 ToD Cherries and 4 White chocolate. The fact that WC is limit 2 with some left over to be a public release (albeit limited), that's frustrating. I guess this is what I get for sharing my membership with a friend who at least gets 1 of every release. I'll only get 1 of these bottles to drink. Bummer but oh well.

...was hoping Mash & Grind happened again. I wasn't a fan of Mash

They said they're doing M&G again to replace Mash & Coconut...maybe it's not ready yet, no email has hit yet so it's hard to gauge whether this is all we're getting this month. You'd think they'd have all of the product listings ready on the site, as well as the email all written, so that on Monday morning at 10 AM they could just hit send and put the products live...seems like the longer they've been doing this, the less streamlined it has become.

I'm a little worried about the "fresh cut Gala apples" description. Wasn't that apple tartness a sign of infection in White Chocolate last year? I suppose this one could be intentional but it does make me wonder a little.

I'm probably not going to max out on either of those if you want me to send you some next time I send a box to Brett. I won't be back home to SoCal until December though so it'd have to wait until then to ship it out.

White Chocolate™
14.3% abv
$29.99 - $25.50
Purchase Limit: 2 bottles
Bottles will also be available at our Tasting Room

Essentially a summer barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, the primary component of White Chocolate is a beer that we affectionately refer to as "White Oak Sap" as it is 100% bourbon barrel aged and is the wheat-wine component of our White Oak ale. After nearly a year in used bourbon barrels, the beer comes out rich in coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To complement the already rich flavors of this beer, we've added cacao nibs and fresh vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate...hence the name.

Ignis Fatuus™

8.3% abv
$14.99 - $12.75
Purchase Limit: 3 bottles
Bottles will also see limited local distribution

Ignis Fatuus is a special brew created just in time for Autumn activities. The base is a rich, robust porter that was brewed with an addition of puréed pumpkins. Like all great pumpkin recipes, we then added a subtle addition of seasonal spices to balance with the roasty character. We invite you to enjoy the nuanced flavors while telling ghost stories around an illuminating jack-o'-lantern.

Tart of Darkness® with Cherries & Vanilla
7.1% abv
$19.99 - $16.99
Purchase Limit: 2 bottles
Reserve & Preservation Society Exclusive

Tart of Darkness is a sour stout that we aged in used oak barrels that previously housed beers such as Sucré™ or
Black Tuesday®. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. This very special edition has an addition of tart cherries and sweet vanilla beans. The additional cherries help bring the fruit character of the Belgian-style yeast to the forefront while the vanilla matches flawlessly with the burnt roastiness of the malt.

Mash™

12.4% abv
$19.99 - $16.99
Purchase Limit: 3 bottles

An English barley-wine aged in bourbon barrels, Mash is an intense yet balanced beer with notes of burnt caramel, toasted bread, ripe pear, dried figs, vanilla, toasted coconut and finishes with oak tannin. This has become an instant favorite around the brewery due to its balance, subtle complexities and overwhelming deliciousness.

Im in the same boat as you. I read the description and immediately thought of cider/vinegar and gagged a bit.

Thank you, Doug!

If my buddy does in fact want 1 of each for himself, I'd like to buy 1 extra of WC and ToD. Can Paypal you. Lemme know.

wow anyone notice that black tuesday release thing on the sidebar stating that "each member will be limited to a single ticket?"

****

Highly doubtful -- this is an intentionally bretted beer. White Chocolate was force-carbed, which was why it had an acetylaldehyde issue that never cleared. Separately, it also had a lactic bacteria infection that soured it.

Really guessing the apple description is bad writing based on an interesting but ambiguous aroma.

apple/acetylaldehyde is a common flavour found in either bretty or very young beers. st. louis gueuze, for example, tastes like sucking on a granny smith. of course, i don't really like apple flavour in my beer, so i'll probably skip it.

as is, i'm not sure how many bottles i'm buying yet but i'll be getting at least one mash, a cherry vanilla ToD, and maybe an atomic kangarue since that's still up for sale.

Ethyl Hexanoate is the desired red apple flavor. Acetylaldehyde is green apple. I would consider Gala apples to be more red than green, but knowing the Bruery it's C2HO4.
