Hello,

I was playing around with making my first recipe. Wanted to make an imperial salted Carmel chocolate brown ale. I was hoping if someone can tell me if this recipe would come out good or not:

Partial mash 5 gal-

Grains:

Rahr Domestic Pale, standard brewers(2 row) - 2 lbs
Crisp Pale Chocolate (2row) - 4 oz
Breiss 20LV Crystal (2 row) -8 oz
Breiss Amber Extract - 3.3 lbs
Amber Dry Malts - 3 lb

Hops:

Whole Kent Goldings - 1/2 oz @ 30
Nugget hops - 1/2 oz @ 60

Yeast:

WLP005 British Ale Yeast

Extras:

1tsp Irish moss @15
1tsp salt @ 5 min

Fermentation:

Two weeks primary
Three weeks secondary with:
4 oz coco nibs
1 whole Madagascar vanilla bean

Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Not sure what OG you're shooting for but if you want an "IMPERIAL" I would kick the DME up a pound or 2 and then kick the hops up a tad as well for balance.
Also not sure if the 1 TSP of salt is going to get you to that "salted" flavor your looking for but that can always be added later.

Looks good.

Cheers
Jay

Thank you! I will probably add another lb of DME and add a little more hops to it. As for the salt, what might you suggest? And can salt be added in secondary?
