i can’t seem to get the PSI high enough to pump CO2 into the fermenter. I’m at 33/34* and want 8 PSI to get to ~2.4 vols. Even at 10 psi on the tank I’m having a hard time getting the co2 to actually push through the stone, it just doesn’t do anything, unless I really crank up the pressure. I could add a sounding valve on the top but that seems wasteful of co2. Anyone experience this?

I don't have a SS Unitank but I do know that carbonation stones work a little differently than using head pressure to carbonate in the keg. First of all the carbonation stone will have a "wet pressure" which is the PSI that is required to get CO2 to flow through the stone. Could be anywhere from 3-5 PSI. You then need to add 1 PSI every 2 feet of liquid. So in order to reach 8 PSI in the unitank you may need to set your regulator as high as 15 PSI to compensate for everything.

Thanks!

Take the stone , put it in water, turn on the gas from 1 PSI..slowly...When you see bubbles..that is your wet pressure starting point...so when you are ready to start ,start from that point of psi
