So I was thinking of making a Chestnut Brown Ale soon and was wondering if it would be beneficial to use actual nuts or some kind of liquor or extract. If nuts are a good way to go, does anyone know how much I would use for a 3 gallon batch or how to prepare? turn into a paste and add to secondary?

I've looked around at a bunch of recipes that say it's a "chestnut ______" but none really seem to have anything besides grains to give it a nutty flavor. Thanks in advance for the help!

I wont be too much help since i havent made one yet, but ive been reading up on using nuts since ill have several pounds of pecans to experiment with.

From what ive read you need to roast them several times and soak up the oils with paper towels after each roast. This will limit the oils that make it into the beer. Then grind them up and put them in the mash. I guess you could also put them in the boil or after fermentation is done as well.

Ive read of people using half a pound to a pound in 5 gallon batches. I hope someone chimes in with first hand experience.

Triangulum, is that a recipe? I searched the forums, but didn't come across it. or if it is there, it's pretty buried.
