So, my brother is coming over today and I am going to brew AHS Stormcastle Brown ale.

Here is the recipe:

7lb Amber Extract
.5lb Chocolate Malt
.5lb Brown Malt
.5lb Maris Otter Malt
.5lb Cara Munich Malt
Bittering - 1oz Yakima Golding and .5oz Willamette
Flavoring - .75oz Willamette
Aroma - .75oz Willamette
Yeast - White Labs British Ale 005
OG - 1.052
FG - 1.013
ABV - 5.1

I will keep you posted on how it goes.

Has anyone ever done this kit before? Its an AHS Promo kit.

Nope never done that kit before, but it isn't too far off from a nut brown that I used to brew quite regularly. Only major difference was the addition of 2 lb of dark brown sugar in place of some of the malt... looks tasty though. Be sure to let us know how it turns out!

Finished up my brew. missed the OG by only .001 so I feel good about that.

The brew looks good!

I have done this kit, and plan to do it again in the spring for summer time. I was "OK" with it after 3 weeks in the bottle, and then kinda ignored it. Now after about 2 months in the bottle, they are delicious - as a matter of fact I had a BMC drinking " I hate dark beer" friend over last weekend who went through 5 of them -and asked could he take some home with him!

If I remember I'll post a photo later today - very clear and pretty.

You'll like it. Pretty mellow, and mine laces a glass wonderfully. So far my experience is that you cannot go wrong with anything AHS sells kit wise - they got their act together.

Found one I took last weekend prior to brewing up some other goodies...

The original caption that day reads:StormCastle Brown by AHS. I love this beer. Trying my own brown today, this is what I am setting the mark at. Good stuff.

As of this morning, the Air lock is going CRAZY! Cant wait to get home and do some air lock sniffing :p

I made this recipe back in December of 2010 and it was ok after a few weeks in the bottle but is super delicious now! I have since switched to all grain and was wondering if anyone has the grain bill for an all grain version of this brew.
