I've brewed Brewhouse kits previously, but not the IPA. Started this batch last Sunday and just racked to my secondary. Here is the recipe for anyone else interested:

- Brewhouse IPA Kit (15L)
- 4L of Whistler Springs Purified Water
- Cooper's Dry Yeast (included with kit)
- Dry Hopped in Secondary for 14 days:
  • 1 oz Cascade hops
  • 1 oz Centennial hops
  • 1 oz Columbus hops

Original Gravity (OG): 1.065
Secondary Gravity (7 days): 1.015

Nice and simple, nothing too flashy. The kit calls for 8L of water to be added to the 15L of pre-made wort. I've added only 4L instead to bump up the alcohol content and hopefully create a more full-bodied IPA. Will add to this post once I rack to my keg and force carbonate. So far, so good, so hopefully this will be a nice batch! Cheers and happy St Paddy's day.

Wanted to add my review to this brew in case anyone was interested.

Brewing was good, very straight forward, no issues. I've now had this batch kegged for a little over two weeks, set constantly at 12 psi.

Taste - Very good. Decently hoppy, goes down smooth, bitter but not overpowering, quite nice level of bitterness actually (kit is quoted at 50 IBUs). Overall I quite like the taste, impressed with the quality of these kits.

Alcohol Content - estimated at 6.5% abv. OG was 1.060-1.065, FG after 1 week and 3 weeks was 1.015. Definitely get's you drunk, which is perfect.

Colour - Started out a bit cloudly, but after 2+ weeks of conditioning in the keg, it is a quite nice fairly clear light amber colour. Solid head upon pouring, just how I like it.

I am an IPA lover and this is definitely a solid one. I could drink this daily. Having said that I do like very hoppy beers, I've tried some of the hoppiest and most bitter IPAs out there and everything in between, and I would not call this overly hoppy, just about right for your medium of the road IPA. However, my three friends who tried who typically drink lagers found it a bit strong. To each their own I guess.

If you've brewed this kit before - chime in! Or other Brewhouse kits?? What did you think? So far I'm a huge fan, plus easily accessible locally for me. Cheers!

I'm not an IPA fan (too bitter), but I'm doing a similar thing with a lager right now. Dry hopping and brewed it at 19L. Will be bottling in 2.5 weeks.

pre-made wort? you do nothing but ferment and dry hop? Never heard of this

Yeah there are several kits out there. The more popular being Brew House (RJ Spagnols brand), Baron's (Winexpert brand), and Festa Brew.

Concentrated wort, add water and yeast mainly, some of the kits have other minor ingredients. From starting to bottling it takes me about 2-3 hrs per kit.

I apologize if this isn't the right way to horn in on a post but...
Finally someone that uses Brewhouse kits!
And a simple hack to start with.
redline...any other hacks of these kits that you know of or could share?
I've only been brewing a short time but figured there was so much more that could be done with the kits.

My favourite is an orange coriander wheat hack, doesn't take much more than soaking zest and crushed coriander in vodka a few days and adding after fermentation. Super tasty, tend to make a batch every year. There's also a few more kits out now, Microbrew http://www.micro-brew.net/ and U-Do http://u-dobrewery.com/ U-Do is actually the old Vancouver Brewhouse but they changed ownership when Brewhouse got bought out.
