Bourbon county!

I am definitely a home brewer but enjoy commercial beer from time to time. I have heard of goose island bourbon county brand beers but have never actually seen them. I'm out and about with my daughter today and we stroll into bevmo, and I stumble upon bourbon county coffee stout. $29.99 a 4 pack, but again I have never seen the beer in person, so we decided to make the purchase. I am super stoked to try them. Anyone have experience with this beer. Also, goose island recommends drinking this beer fresh as the coffee taste may disappear? Thoughts?

Fresh is good one beers with spices or additives like coffee if you really want the ingredient to shine. I always age a few bourbon counties. They really smooth out after a few years.

I would drink two fresh and age the others or drink one, age one, and trade me for two. My state got like a case or something supposedly. I want to try it fresh as I only aged my other.

Nice score! The coffee stout (with red label) isn't easy to find anywhere when it's released (day after thanksgiving) much less months later. Even the regular BCBS (black label) was somewhat elusive this year.

Well done! Bourbon County comes out on Black Friday, so that's quite the find. Many people think the coffee version is one of the best of the bunch. Like the others have mentioned, they really do age well. Coffee is more pronounced fresh, but I think the beer as a whole really rounds out after some aging. A very nice treat for a special day.

Awesome. Well that makes me more excited for them. They also had the Bourbon County barley wine, but I didn't want the rath when I tried to explain I spent $60 on 8 beers to SWMBO. I think I will drink 2 soon and cellar the others.

I have Bourbon Counties hidden all over my house. I run into them every now and then. I keep them aging. The older they get, the better they get. I have a 4 pack sitting around that is 3 years old since I bought it. Means the beer is 8 years old.

Cellar temps are preferred, especially for longer term aging. If you're talking aging them for months, a cool closet is fine. If you're getting into years of aging, you'd really want to keep it in the 55-60F range. Of course, there is a lot of varying opinions on this, so find something that works for you.

Room temp. I have them in closets around the house.

So after you have cellared them for awhile do you put them in the fridge before you drink or have them at cellar temps?

These are best near room temp. I chill them for a few days them give them an hour to warm before drinking
