As the title states, can you use one of these bouncer filters or something along those lines when transferring carbonated beer from the tank to the keg? Or will this cause a foamy mess?

Hey man just curious if you tried this and if so how did it go. About to do this exact thing next week. Was going to set the fermenter at 12 psi and the keg spunding valve to 11 psi and hope for the best.

You won't get much movement at 1psi differential. Set the receiving keg spunding to whatever your carbonation level is (call it 10) and push about 15psi into the fermenter.

Forgot all about this post realized I should probably follow up. So this setup actually works fantastically. I purged and vented the keg and bouncer filter and pressurized to 15 psi. Set my fermenter and 15 psi, opened the valve on the fermenter, then slowly opened the spunding valve to start flow. At about 3-4 psi difference the beer flows great zero foaming. You can actually see if you open the valve too far because you will see tiny bubbles start to form in the hose or the filter. I'm shocked at how well this works and I get almost zero hop debris in the keg now. I have don't this about 6 times so happy with it.

Good to hear! Can I ask which bouncer filter you're using? The one I have has a VERY small opening to enter the filter, maybe 1/8", and it clogs super easy. I think I need the one that has the bigger opening...

I have the bouncer MD with the Red Filter. The red i believe is the 20 mesh which is still less than 1/32" opening. It is pretty course but my goal is to keep bigger hop material out that would clog up my keg. I have a conical and dump a lot of the hop material out prior do doing this, but i'm still shocked at how much hop material this thing removes. If I were using the standard bouncer (the small one) I bet i would plug it every time but i'm not sure. My filter is packed pretty full on a big dry hopped beer but never plugs up. I'm pretty sure they posted my setup on their facebook page but ironically I don't have facebook haha.

I was referring to the hole opening that leads into the filter itself. Not the mesh size. You have a pic of yours?

This is what I was referring to...

This is the bounder MD. Has 1/2" inlet/outlet and I have 1/2" Tri Clamp fittings threaded in there. I don't use the barbs. You have the original bouncer with the 3/8" barbs i believe which means its probably a 1/4" opening. You wouldn't think it would plug at 1/4" but i guess that is pretty small. Sorry i don't have a ton of experience with the small bouncer. I had a feeling it would be too small for the big dry hopped beers so i went straight for the MD. Hope this helps.
