ready to try my second batch
am using sanatized pop bottles and has worked fine
not ready to do glass
is it really cheaper to buy the soda and empty it the n buy pet bottles
any ideas where to purchase as i don drink much soda
or should i just buy a capper and get the bars to help me with glass bottles
thanks

I would say it is just easier to buy PET bottles and caps.
Second to that, it is much easier to buy craft beer , drink it, save bottles and buy caps. Or get the bars to help and clean them very, very, very well.

If using craft (or other) beer bottles, get the pop-off kind - not twist-off. You can cap the twist-off bottles, but sometimes the seal won't work right.

I had the Cooper's 740mL (25.16oz) PET bottles, but you can't brush those. I prefer 12oz pop top brown bottles. The German ones work the best to me regarding capping & quality of seal.

I use amber PET Mr. Beer Bottles I got on sale at BevMo for $9 for 16 1/2 liter bottles. I bought 6 cases of them when I found them. They're not cheap, even on sale. Northern Brewer sells 24 1/2 liter amber PET bottles for $22. On a side note I did find when bottling some mead that it's cheaper to buy Grolsch and dump out the beer than it is to buy empty Grolsch style bottles.

I think there are advantages to PET, but I know I'm in a minority. I started with soda bottles. They work, but since they're clear you have to be careful of skunking, and they look even more ghetto than the amber PET beer bottles (no, I did not apply the stick-on labels, I make my own).

You said "I'm not ready for glass". Why, what's the difference? A bottle is a bottle. Me I only use S.N. stubbies. Buy them full, drink the beer and then recycle the bottles buy fillin g with home brew.
