So my mead is done and it's bottlin' time! :rockin:

But, what to put it in? I have a small batch, a gallon, and five 750ml bottles that I had been collecting for reuse and relabeling. But you see...these are screw top bottles.

Is that heretical? Several things I've recently read claim so.

I was looking at the T-caps/Mushroom Caps on Amazon, and sorta wondered what it would be like to use those on the bottles I already have.

 Is that double heretical? Could it even work?

How are the "Zork" type closures in general? Would they work on these recycled bottles or only those with cork closures?

Thing is, I don't really wanna drop 30$ of a set of bottles + shipping. I'm graduating in 2 weeks , and a friend is coming over from afar and I want to show him what I've been working on. :tank:

I use clear and brown beer bottles. I think your screw caps would work. What is you abv?

Do you have a corker? Screwtop wine bottles have the same diameter neck as regular wine bottles. The downside is that the screwtops have a thinner glass wall at the top of the neck so there is a risk (small, but still present) that if you cork aggressively you can break the neck. I have yet to experience this but I know others in other wine making forums frequently warn folk about using screw top bottles.
But that said, I imagine if you have 5 bottles and you are not planning on aging the wine, then you might as well use what you have.
